I HATE self portraits.  Took like 300 shots to get this.  Each time holding up the camera and then walking back to my camera to make a minor tweak.

Of course I set myself a bit of a challenge.  I wanted this shot with an 85mm in a small room and I wanted a wide aperture (f/2 in this case) so my eye and lens barrel would stand out.

Had to stand in exactly the right spot and trigger the camera remotely.  Took about a hundred shots after I got the light right just to be in the right centimeter distance from the camera.

Exactly the sort of thing that would have taken three shots with someone to aim and focus the camera.

Gorgeous self portrait! I know how hard it is to make one. Of course mine are so FAR from yours, but I feel your pain on this :D Going from and to the camera to make the right shot ... Hat off to you!

That is high praise given some of the artists here.   But I'll take it in the spirit given and say thank you.  And thank you for the points as well.  I hope spring is springing properly for you.

I won t be commenting on the techniques you already master,my dear Swift.

I want to comment about how personal, impactful and also subtle this auto portrait is.

Of all the portraits of you in your gallery, this one stands as showing a part of you you don't normally get to show easily maybe.
It has to do with waiting and standing in the dark and always be ready. When things are silent, they can suddenly go boom and deadly.
It has to do with your eye,the soul's lens and the way you decided to find and capture beauty even in the darkest places and hours of your life.
I really love this portrait and how it "echoes" inside of me.
This one goes logically and directly in my favs

PS: I wanted to write you a critique but was too exhausted, so I commented. My critique would have been 5 ***** everywhere.Keep on hunting like this:nod:

extremely good shot, swift! even is someone else would have taken it. as a self, it's really amazing. the texture of the lit parts is very good and the eye is absolutely stunning. the tiny light rims of the lens hood finishes it for. rarely seen a powerful shot with so few pixels above 000.. cheers, rob

Thanks.  I'm really digging this whole off-camera lighting thing.  I need a mannequin or a very patient model or something though so I can focus on the photography part of it
